The Alumni, the formation
It was the year of millennium when the thought of formation of an Alumni association crossed the mind of a handful of ex students of SAVM. The team was formed. Representatives of 1981 batch were the senior most in taking the initiative. Then representation from other batches too took interest and the team started to act. By that time , the school had already built a reputation of being arguably the best school in the vicinity. Madhyamik ranks had become a regular phenomenon. Furthermore, the overall results were the best in the township year after year. So, the quality of the ex and present students were proven to be unmatched.
The first body of the Alumni erected a statue of Rishi Aurobindo in the school courtyard. They had started a computer training class in the school itself, donating ten new computers. In those years, getting trained in computer skills was the “in” thing. Celebrating school foundation days on the 22nd of Jan every year started. The morning rallies, cultural programs involving the teachers also started. Felicitating the meritorious students was done. Musical Soirée with decent food and snacks in the evening too was part of the agenda. Thus the Alumni started to function.
A new body of the Alumni was formed this year as the founder members were older by this time and it was time to handover the responsibility to the new generation. The new body with fresh blood started to think beyond. A hall of fame for the meritorious students is on the cards. Career counselling of the students with Alumni faculties looks a possibility. Taking care of mental health of the students, boosting up the science, arts and sports talent of the school has taken priority in their thought. It seems, that the new committee of the Alumni Association is poised to make the dreams fly even higher.
Our achievements , the strength of Alumni
Forty five batches of Madhyamik students have passed out of our Alma Mater. The first batch was in 1977 consisting of only three students. The last batch, the batch of 2022 had one hundred and ninety students who represented Sri Aurobindo Vidyamandir. The exponential increase of students is only a simple testimony of the responsibility Chandannagar, more so, Hooghly and adjoining districts have given to the institution. A handful of passionate teachers led the task of building characters of the generations of the small township with rich cultural heritage.Chandannagar, can now boast of students from Sri Aurobindo Vidyamandir who adorn almost every sphere of our global society. Besides the academic world, SAVM has contributed to the sports, administrative, corporates and even the glamour world. The strong academic foundation has helped the school to boast even a Bhatnagar awardee to the school’s credit. Starting from 1981, SAVM has Madhyamik state rank holders in regular intervals. We have an international cricketer , a globally acclaimed fashion designer from our school. This is only talking of a few of many.
The Alumni association is in the process of augmenting the experience of the outer world with the curricular agenda of the school to enable the generation next reach heights which can touch the sky. The Alumni is a star studded gamut of ex students who are extremely process driven with a huge crave for innovation and improvisation. The Alumni would like to kindle the aptitude orientation of the students to help explore the right horizon Ina customised format.
The Alumni is passionate, strong and has a clear vision to shape the strides of the present generation stronger and healthier. The Alumni consists of members across the globe who stand united when it is a call for our Alma Mater.
Pride of Chandannagar
Being the first English medium school in the district is a real pride. Till date SAVM is the only English Medium Higher Secondary school in West Bengal board and council in Hooghly district. Ingrained in noble thoughts of the saint, Rishi Aurobindo , the SAVMites balance personal progress and spiritual enlightenment in life and March ahead. The students, teachers, Alumni and all the staffs and office bearers of the school add to the pride of the town in it’s unprecedented process of character building of the generations. Post independence, SAVM is the finest thing which happened to Chandannagar. Being founded in 1973 SAVM is spreading its Halo of intellect, spirit and character of confidence every day and is enriching Chandannagar.
